The sound
Wood and Wire Doing What Words Can’t
Fast when it wants to be. Lonesome when it has to be. Honest all the time.

Wood, wire, breath
A sound with a backbone
A fiddle can cry without begging. A banjo can drive like a train coming downhill. A mandolin can chop through the room like an axe through pine. A guitar holds the floor while the bass keeps the ground from moving.
Then the voices come in close. Not smooth for the sake of smooth. Close enough to feel like kin.
The pieces
Plain instruments. Deep marks.
Banjo: the engine, bright and restless.
Fiddle: the old voice, rough-edged and human.
Mandolin: the chop, the spark, the cut.
Guitar: the floorboards under the whole room.
Bass: the road underneath the wheels.
Harmony: family lines drawn in sound.
“You don’t explain the sound. You feel where it came from.”
